We hit road last Friday around 3:30pm. We headed for the northeastern corner of Oklahoma. Our destination was the town of Jay. It was a 6-hour trip, so I brought a book and loaded my mp3 player with a couple of sermons.
One of our co-workers, Edwin, left earlier that day. We were supposed to meet him at Jay. He was supposed to show us our place of stay. However, we couldn’t contact him because he lost cell phone signal.
We drove round and round the town trying to figure out what to do when Alex looked at our contact info page. The church’s number was there. It was past 11pm, but Alex called the church.
Fortunately, the head elder answered! He must’ve realized our predicament and waited to see if we would call. He met us and led us to a church member’s guest house. We unpacked and went to bed.
Praise Jesus for that generous church member! Most people don’t let strangers stay in their guest house unsupervised. Here’s a video of the house.

Sadly, I wasn’t able to take pictures or video during the church service, because I volunteered to be the song leader. Edwin, our song leader, went to the Spanish church during Sabbath School to recruit more people to our afternoon seminars. He was running late and didn’t make it at the start of the church service.
During the church service, Hanan facilitated the praise and prayer time. Many people gave testimonies. Sara and Eileen gave the children’s story and sermon, respectively. Mahalia and Alex sang a duet for special music.
Potluck was great. They even had a vegan table with many dishes.
In the afternoon, we planned seminars for the adults, youth, and children. But before our seminars, we give away Ellen White books. To get the free books, church members have to correctly answer questions from the morning sermon.
For the adult seminars, Alex started things off by speaking about Adventist history.
Then, Mrs. Hadley and Edwin talked about Ellen White’s trip through Indian Territory in Oklahoma.
Uzzie talked for the last adult seminar. I didn’t get the full gist of his topic, because I left early to take pictures of the children’s seminar.
Hanan, Mahalia, Sara, and Suzy taught the children. The children made crafts and learned about King Nebuchadezzar and Ellen White.
None of the youth attended, so we didn’t have the youth seminar. Eileen and I (Dee) planned on talking about dating and courtship.
We give many thanks because of the hospitality of the church members. They housed us and gave us sandwiches and drinks for our trip back.
Finally, here’s a group picture.

Dear Students of SWAU, Thank you all very much for coming to Jay last weekend. We appreciated everyone, and enjoyed your talks and music. Eileen, you did a great job on your sermon. Everyone that came received a blessing. Thanks for the books you gave away. In Christian Love,
Dr. Bland and Dolores
